I don't watch football, but with a football fanatic for a boyfriend, and the World Cup, sometimes it cannot be escaped! So dare I say it, but England's victory over Panama today is one of the leading inspirations behind this week's intention. Although, I wouldn't say theirs was a "little" one! However, I want to mention that there have been others that have inspired me to focus on life's little victories this week... my accountant being one of them! Not only does he save me from doing dreaded maths (which we all know I am terrible at!!), but he is also an incredibly spiritual person, and often I find myself having a life-coaching session with him when we meet... totally by accident!! Thank you for encouraging me to achieve small victories Magnus :-) This idea of victory also came up during a conversation with one of my favourite Yoga Teachers, who never ceases to inspire, motivate and encourage me... Love you Tiff!! So moving on to what it's all about... Do you ever feel...like a plastic bag drifting through the wind?! Sorry - I couldn't help myself there! But seriously, do you ever feel like you're trying and trying and getting nowhere with something? Maybe it's a new healthy diet or exercise regime you've started, or your job, or your Yoga practice?? It can really feel that way sometimes. Which is why it is so important to celebrate our little victories, because those are the ones that add up to a greater defeat. Arnold Schwarzenegger (I know - probably not your average inspirational Yogi, but I really liked his quote!) said: "Look for small victories and build on that. Each small victory, even if it is just getting up five minutes earlier, gives you confidence. You realise that these little victories make you feel great, and you keep going. You realise that being paralysed by fear of failure is worse than failure". This intention is particularly important for those of us that suffer from mental health issues. Just getting out of bed full stop can be a little victory. Or just turning up to your mat for your yoga practice. I'll end by saying this... Well done. Keep going. You are amazing and you will always win! (Even though we all know that Yoga is not a competition!). Let's feel victorious this week, and for the rest of our lives! Namaste

Life is about balance... In a society where we are bombarded with conflicting information about what is the "right" way to eat, to exercise, to dress, to behave... it is far too easy to think that we are doing everything wrong. Especially when we scroll through Instagram or Facebook and compare ourselves to others that seem to live the perfect lifestyle. However, it is so important to figure out what works for us as an individual - to create a balanced lifestyle that we enjoy! Whilst it is obviously incredibly important to take care of ourselves - to eat well, to sleep well, to do our yoga practice - it is also important to have fun, be happy and live life to the full! The key point is not to be hard on yourself. Enjoy a G&T as much as a green juice! Eat quinoa and kale AND chocolate cake! Work hard, and play harder... but make sure you get plenty of rest :-) This week we will be focusing on the idea of balance in my classes. This doesn't necessarily mean doing the whole class on one leg, or balancing on our hands! Balance can be found between forward folds and back bends, evening out our inhales and exhales, balancing our left and right sides to centre the nervous system... cultivating equanimity. See you there! Namaste |
