Deep Tissue Massage with Hot stones

This is the type of massage I offer and recommend to most of my clients.

Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It is used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Deep tissue massage works to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.

Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation, and the following conditions:

  •    Upper and lower back pain
  •    neck pain
  •    Limited mobility
  •    Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls)
  •    Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  •    Postural problems

Muscle tension in the hamstrings, glutes, IT band, legs, quadriceps, rhomboids, upper back

  •    Osteoarthritis pain
  •    Sciatica
  •    Sports concerns
  •    Piriformis syndrome
  •    Tennis elbow
  •    Fibromyalgia

The added use of hot stones during a deep tissue massage provides a further myriad of benefits such as:

  •    Heat that penetrates deeper in to the muscles and tissues, relieving muscle tension and pain more effectively
  •    Reducing stress and anxiety
  •    Promoting deeper relaxation and aiding sleep
  •    Encouraging more blood flow to tighter areas of the body, increasing mobility in the joints
  •    Drawing out toxins from the skin and promoting self-healing
